рассвет над Потомаком
May. 14th, 2009 11:50 amMuch of the information in the report of the 9/11 Commission was provided through more than 30 sessions of torture of detainees... At least four operatives whose interrogation figured in the 9/11 Commission Report have claimed that they told interrogators critical information as a way to stop being "tortured." Those claims came during their hearings in the spring of 2007 at the U.S. military facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Когда я читала отчёт комиссии, то я помню, мне резануло глаз неоднократное употребление слова "хвастался" в показаниях пойманных террористов. Оказывается, "хвастался" надо понимать "под пыткой сказал".
Там же: "Two U.S. intelligence officers confirm that Vice President Cheney’s office suggested waterboarding an Iraqi prisoner, a former intelligence official for Saddam Hussein, who was suspected to have knowledge of a Saddam-al Qaeda connection." Его всё-таки не пытали, а то бы мы уже читали романы о любви Саддама и Осамы.
The 9/11 Commission's Blind Spot | Newsweek National News | Newsweek.com: "Former senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, a Democrat on the 9-11 commission said it might take "a permanent 9/11 commission" to end the remaining mysteries of September 11."
