Вообще-то Leahy подверг сомнению не ее право избираться, а целесообразность.

Вы правы. Но ситуация даёт возможность продемонстрировать Обаме свои тактические таланты. Из Хиллари выдавили обещание поддерживать единство Демократической партии и, может, она это обещание даже сдержит. Мыльная опера, конечно, затянулась и все от неё уже устали, но лет через пять будет очень интересно читать книжки об этой кампании.
