I happened to be familiar with this guy somewhat - I have followed the Washington Ballet for decades at this point. The "great accomplished dancer, choreographer, and artist" is a very mediocre dancer - a good character and corps dancer but not a principle caliber; never danced any real principal roles, and was fired from his job in Washington ballet. The only piece he has EVER choreographed was a co-authorship with another dancer of a piece on Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage (what now is branded DEI and woke), it was a small piece not groundbreaking or award-winning... He does not have any higher education degrees to lead a program of such magnitude with such large budget. His only qualifications are listed in this letter. What I would expect, however, is Russian and Chinese ballet companies returning to the kennedy center.
